March 1: Keith's first post after the blast

Keith had been working with the insurance, fire, and all the other support people in the freezing cold to save as much as possible of our art, computers, kitchen, tools, clothes and family irreplaceable things. I could not spend much time down there because my knee was hurt again getting out of the house.

Sorry not to post anything before now regarding the recent episode Barbara already noted about a week ago. Given the severity of the explosion, nobody (including the fire marshall) seems able to explain how either of us survived the blast nor how we avoided being very badly injured. Ultimately, we were both able to walk away from the scene. And now, just over a week later, we still don't understand how we still remain here. Even more miraculous, both cats came through the chaos intact, although terrorized by their experiences. Nano, the older cat, is having significantly more trouble than her younger sister adapting to this new wrinkle in their lives. Attempting now, eight days after the incident, to provide a quick update...we're all doing well. My glass-related wounds continue healing...more slowly than I'd hoped for...but healing nonetheless. Barbara is also doing well. Until today, each day has spun out of control...probably to be expected at this point. I more or less anticipate this next week will prove to be less stressful than last. In any case, things are at least moving forward. We have no idea how long it might take to return to even a minorly normal state. In any case, we both remain in awe that we're still here at all. Despite the chaos, life is great!

Hello, everyone, thanks for all your love and well wishes. Keith and I are fine and cats Nano and Yoyo are also doing fine. No one is really hurt which is unbelievable after seeing it again today in the daylight.
When it exploded, Keith was in the shower near the blow site and I was in bed under the covers listening to Lynsey Addario's new book about war photographers on my ipod and at first I thought it was a sound effect on the recording but then the ceiling fell on me and I realized it wasn't and began calling out for Keith. He got some nicks and splinters and some cuts on his feet but both of us are fine.
To add a little black humor, I guess we had a blast this weekend! We still don't know the cause but we should have a report from the investigators soon. Don't worry, as long as we are fine and the cats are too we will be back on track before long.
