March 26: The Apartment

Keith's photographs of our temporary digs...
A new update...With the explosion of our house now just over a month ago, things continue to progress. Barbara and I (as well as our cats) have been staying in the home of benevolent neighbors during these initial few weeks. Then during this next week we will be moving to an apartment in downtown Cincinnati, where we'll be staying while what's left of our house will be demolished and a new house built. I'm anticipating this overall process will take around a year to reach its conclusion. As we prepare for our downtown adventure, I wanted to share a few pictures that reveal something of where we'll be living for a while. Although the process seems to be moving ever so slowly, making this move represents a very major step forward.

While moving a few things into our downtown apartment today, I opted to hang a picture on the brick hallway wall...I suppose it's a way claiming the space for ourselves.

'A view of a church as seen from one of our windows.'
'An oddly configured hallway connecting the assorted rooms of the apartment...potentially a great location for hanging art objects.'
'View of the kitchen...again with the church seen through the windows.'
'A Rookwood gas fireplace...it HAD to be gas!'
'Picture of the cage type elevator that serves the building. It's noted as being the oldest functioning residential elevator in Cincinnati.'
